Food Not Bombs (Dundee chapter)

Food Not Bombs is a loosely organised worldwide network of volunteers dedicated to changing our society. The amount of money spent by governments on weapons of war could feed the hungry many, many times over, but instead, it is spent on violence, creating yet more hunger. Meanwhile the capitalist system our food is produced in results in vast quantities of perfectly edible, good food being thrown out, rather than eaten, despite the many people who need it.

Food Not Bombs Dundee is dedicated to taking action around issues of capitalism, food waste, poverty, hunger, militarism and speciesism that affect our society, as well as to supporting local activist and community groups in their intersecting struggles for social justice. We also support protests, strikes and other events with food. If you’d like to collaborate, get in touch.

1. The food is always vegan and free to everyone without restriction, rich or poor, stoned or sober.
2. Food Not Bombs has no formal leaders or headquarters, and every group is autonomous and makes decisions using the consensus process.
3. We believe in solidarity, not charity.

Food Not Bombs aims to provide a radical counter-narrative to the current political and economic system by building our own sustainable and cooperative communities, demonstrating that we can replace the current violent and abusive system with one of cooperation, equality and abundance in very practical ways. We believe that sharing free food without restriction and expectations, and working in solidarity with those who we share our food with, is a revolutionary act in a culture that is devoted to profit and consumerism.
