The Colossi of Memnon are two giant stone statues representing the Pharaoh Amenhotep III (1386-1349 BC) located on the west bank of the Nile, opposite the Egyptian city of Luxor. The function of the colossi was to preside over the entrance to the funerary complex of Amenhotep III.
