I got this submission, and it really goes to show you the issue with history. People only look at the events that happen, and not the history that preceded them. This persecution of Christians doesn't come out of nowhere, historically in places where christians have been "persecuted", this is because the church has almost always allied with the previous state, and has justified and committed atrocities with the word of god as an excuse. The Spanish church crucified their people, and worked closely with Franco. The Pope didn't mind Mussolini.

Under the Russian Empire, the church had many privileges, until Lenin separated Church and State, and made them lose a lot of influence. Then the civil war hit, and a lot of orthodox leaders backed the white army, which was backed by 14 imperialist nations. If you join on the opposite side of the communists on a war, like most war you might end up killed.

I have personally expressed resentment toward Christianity because I am surrounded by christians and 9 times out of 10 they're reactionary as fuck. No part of me wants to deny christians the right to practice their religion; but at the least, the doctrine would need to be significantly reinterpreted so that Americans stop thinking that Jesus shot free market capitalism out of his holy cock and blessed us with it.
