On this day, 28 December 1973, the first strike ever in space took place when three astronauts on the Skylab 4 space station mutinied. The workers, including Col William Pogue demanded more time for contemplating the universe and in Pogue’s words “studying the, the Earth below, and ourselves”.
After 24 hours, the controllers agreed a compromise which made the mood of the last six weeks of the mission much more pleasant.
