On this day, 27 December 1923 Japanese revolutionary, Namba Daisuke, attempted to assassinate the crown prince to avenge the deaths of his comrades Kotoku Shusui, Osugi Sakae and Ito Noe at the hands of the state. But he was unsuccessful and was arrested, sentenced to death and executed two days after being sentenced.
