Stele of King Ahmose I
This limestone stele was dedicated by King Ahmose I, who expelled the Hyksos from Egypt, to his grandmother Queen Tetisheri.
The top of this monument is decorated with a scene showing the king making offerings to the queen, who is seated on her throne.
The lower part of the stela is occupied by a hieroglyphic text that is a dialog between Ahmose and his sister and wife, Ahmes-Nefertari. They are discussing what they have done for their ancestors, especially their grandmother Tetisheri and their mother Queen Ahhotep. He expresses his wish to build a great mortuary temple at Abydos for his grandmother Tetisheri. According to his words, this will be a great temple, the likeness of which has never been built before.
New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, reign of Ahmose I, ca. 1550-1524 BC . Now in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo. JE 36335
