It legitimately wasn’t a coup; Morales wanted the military to attack the protestors (led in part by trade unions) who were upset about Morales tampering with the elections and ignoring the constitutional term limits. The military said no, they wouldn’t put down the protests, so Morales lost power.
the “protesters” were engaging in massive arson less than a day after the results [link]. moreover there has yet to be any credible evidence presented of electoral tampering. also he didn’t “ignore” terms limits, the supreme court had made a decision to alter the laws regarding term limits- the limit to 2 terms only was in place between 2009-2016. also the military when they betrayed Evo immediately joined in the wave of arson and violence, as well as kidnapping and threatening people associated with MAS, which was what instigated Morales to step down to prevent further violence- you know, a coup. you are a blatant liar and you should be ashamed of yourself.
hey nice job blocking me you piece of shit.
at any rate, protesting is one thing, and by all means, if the people who voted for the referendum wanted to peacefully protest, they had every right to do so. they do not have a right to immediately start setting shit on fire, which is what they decided to do. oh, but i guess they just got ~carried away~.
i have read the OAS report, and i found the evidence extremely flimsy. have you? or have you read the more in-depth (and unbiased) report from CEPR, which found no evidence of tampering? [link]
the claim that the military “mostly stepped aside” is your most flagrant lie yet- even the people who endorse the coup acknowledge the police and military joined the opposition, and set about arresting electoral officials and MAS-affiliated politicians, and are currently enforcing the will of the illegitimate coup government that they put in place. and hey, here’s some footage of them doing just that, and violently suppressing the opponents of the coup:
THIS is what you’re supporting. THIS is what you’re defending. who’s the one who’s really being an “authoritarian shill”, bootlicker?
anyways unblock me you coward.
I didn’t block you, weirdo. And you seem to be laboring under the incorrect notion that I support the new government.
I agree, the protestors didn’t have the right to immediately set things on fire. I’m not arguing that they did.
I don’t think the OAS evidence was all that flimsy, and the CEPR report doesn’t address everything in it.
The military mostly stepped aside until it was clear they would have to attack a bunch of protestors to keep Morales in power. The police joined first and started arresting people, which (I believe) they should not have done. After that, yes, the military intervened, to keep pro- and anti-government groups from fighting. But they didn’t take power and it was their inaction that caused Morales to lose power. That’s not a coup.
No, I don’t support protestors being beaten, on either side. Just because I don’t think it’s a coup doesn’t mean I condone what the police are doing, so you can fuck off with that argument.
Edit: I’m not going to keep interacting with someone who keeps misrepresenting my views, so respond if you want but just know you’ll be yelling impotently into the void.
so you think you can just unblock me and pretend you never had me blocked? absolutely pathetic. i do appreciate that you unblocked me, but your rampant dishonesty has been noted.
you’re such a complete failure that even your own source acknowleges that the police and military had sided with the opposition, stating in no uncertain terms that they “sided with the protesters and demanded he resign.” that’s not “stepping aside,” that’s a fucking coup.
they’re not neutrally trying “to keep pro- and anti-government groups from fighting,” they have been overtly on the side of the opposition and have been brutally repressing MAS supporters, as shown by the video I posted.
if you don’t endorse what the police are doing, maybe you should stop lying in their defense, bootlicker.
oh, you’re as fan of the OAS report? name 5
of their albumsthings the CEPR report didn’t address.
