Head of the Mummy of Ramesses II
Earliest known photographs of the mummified head of the pharaoh Ramesses II (r. ca. 1279-1213 BC), photographed by Émile Brugsch, circa 1881.
His mummified body was found in royal cache tomb (DB320) at Deir el-Bahari, West Thebes in 1881. The royal mummy of Ramesses II is now in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo. JE 26214
