On this day, 26 September 1893, Jewish anarchist immigrant Emma Goldman began her trial in New York City. Found guilty of incitement to riot, she was sent back to the Tombs (Manhattan’s city prison) until October, when she was sentenced to a year in Blackwell’s Island Penitentiary.
We have some of Goldman’s writings for sale in our online store, as well as posters of this mugshot from a later arrest proceeds help fund our work: https://shop.workingclasshistory.com/collections/all/emma-goldman https://www.facebook.com/workingclasshistory/photos/a.296224173896073/1220097924842022/?type=3
