Holy shit apparently the chinese diplomats walked out of the trade agreement talks, and according to Li Deshui, it was because the US demanded that China change its domestic policy, and open up a PERMANENT bilateral office to debate Beijing’s economic policy. I mean, holy fucking SHIT. This bold faced imperialism is sickening me, and I love the fact that, democrats are all like #resist, but of course they’re still towing the line that something NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT CHINA and how UNFAIR our trade is with them.

I’m sorry guys, but this is kind of important, because America basically outright demanded control of China’s economy. If you read the article, the original provision they had, they wanted to make it so the US was allowed to put sanctions on China if they didn’t like what China was doing with it’s economy. This is bold-faced outright an attempt to control the economy of China and dictate the lives of Chinese citizens.

Like, read the article. This is not something that should be ignored, I don’t care at all about your position on China, this is mask off imperialism.

This is similar to the arrangement established between the US and Mexico right now, though scaled out for a country as big as China.

After the US threatened Mexico with 5% across-the-board tariffs unless they became the Wall the Americans have been trying to build, Mexico acquiesced, and now every 45 days, Pompeo or some undersecretary meets with Marcelo Ebrard (mexican foreign affairs secretary) to get a performance review on their repression of migrants.

If the Americans’ bloodlust is satiated, Mexico avoids 5% tariffs until the next review in another 45 days, and American demands have escalated with each review. This had led to a lot of political turmoil, since the demand that Mexico become a ‘safe third country’ is basically illegal and the political center in Mexico is to be opposed to taking the brutal measures the Americans love so much. That and AMLO’s shiny new national guard was tasked with undertaking these demands, which undermined his goal of undermining current police forces by creating of a new domestic police force that effectively shut out current cops thus keeping the new force relatively politically ‘clean.’

Even if America’s diplomatic hostage-taking weren’t so brazen, China would still have said no to this, as almost any country would, and I’m guessing the Americans knew the Chinese would reject this offer but made it anyway so they could turn around and say the Chinese are untrustworthy and unwilling to good-faith negotiations. all of which is to say fuck America and fuck Americans.
