On this day, 25 July 1927, a two day conference of twenty or so anarchists from across the Iberian Peninsula began in Valencia which resulted in the formation of the Federación Anarquista Ibérica (FAI). Besides connecting various anarchist groups, the FAI would focus on expanding anarchist influence within the union the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo (CNT). The first day was said to be held in a member’s home, the second by a beach under the guise of family picnicking. The FAI, along with the CNT, would play an immense role in the Spanish revolution and civil war of 1936. This is a book-length history of the FAI by one of its members: https://libcom.org/history/anarchist-organisation-history-fai
