Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell (1974) w/Peter Cushing & Madeline Smith, dir. Terence Fisher
Frankenstein, hiding out in a lunatic asylum, takes on a young disciple. The last of the Hammer series is an okay entry, hampered by over-familiarity and a poorly-designed creature… Originally produced and shot in 1972, it eventually limped into cinemas in 1974 well after the appeal of British gothic horror films had dissipated…. There are many reasons “Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell” is a disappointment. Horror icon and director Terence Fisher just didn’t have it here. The story, on the surface, makes for a great horror tale. But, the acting and special effects are mind-boggingly bad.
