On this day, 7 July 1962, metalworkers in Turin, Italy went on strike in support of Fiat workers. They confronted police and attacked the offices of a scab union. Despite repression in which over 1000 were arrested, and many injured by police, clashes lasted for three days. scottishsquirrel said: The photo is of Piazza De Ferrari in Genova the 30th of June 1960 of the clashes after the strike organized against a rally of the MSI, Movimento Sociale Italiano, at the time the declaredly post-fascist extreme right party in italy. In Genoa both the political and the social situation are very tense, also because of the recent closure of different industries.See NYT 11,July 1960 “Violence in Italy” for ex.
