On this day, 4 July 1969, shortly after the last night of rioting around the Stonewall Inn, a group of lesbians and gay men from New York marched to Greenwich Village where they founded what became the Gay Liberation Front. The GLF was a completely new type of LGBTQ organisation: rather than advocate for gay civil rights and assimilation into mainstream American capitalist society, the GLF advocated complete sexual liberation and the overthrowing of that society. Former members of the group tell their story in our podcast episodes about Stonewall and the GLF: https://workingclasshistory.com/2019/05/13/e21-22-the-stonewall-riots-and-pride-at-50/ https://www.facebook.com/workingclasshistory/photos/a.296224173896073/1160043507514131/?type=3
