On this day, 26 June 1876, at the Battle of the Little Bighorn, Lakota, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho tribes routed General Custer’s army, killing Custer in the process. A full account of the battle is in Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, a superb but heartbreaking account of the systematic attempts to eradicate Native Americans in the second half of the 19th century: https://libcom.org/library/bury-my-heart-wounded-knee-indian-history-american-west-dee-brown https://www.facebook.com/workingclasshistory/photos/a.296224173896073/1155042978014184/?type=3
