FIrst wild wolf pups since the return of the wolf in the Netherlands
June 19, 2019 - The wolf pair in Dutch National Park De Veluwe has pups. A video shows three pups wandering around. Experts confirm it indeed concerns wolves. For the first time in over two centuries, wild wolf pups have been born in the wild in the Netherlands.
The wolf pair has been residing in De Veluwe for longer. Three months ago, the wolf was officially declared to have returned to the Netherlands. Last month, a photo showed the male and female together. It wasn’t clear then if they already had pups. Now video material is proof, and there are indications that it probably concerns a total of five wolf pups.
The location won’t be revealed, to prevent people from going looking for the pups. Site managers ask the public to leave the animals alone and to not disturb nature.
