On this day, 29 May 1941, animators for Disney in Los Angeles walked out on strike when 16 union cartoonists were fired for demanding union recognition. Holding out for five weeks, the strike was settled by mediators who ruled in favour of the union on every issue, and the workers received pay increases of nearly 50% in many cases, although Walt Disney was bitter about his defeat until he died (lol). This is our short history of the strike: https://libcom.org/history/1941-disney-cartoonists-strike https://www.facebook.com/workingclasshistory/photos/a.296224173896073/1134322173419598/?type=3
