Saqqara, Mastaba of Mereruka, life on stage, and the ever present Nile …

Crossing the funerary complex of King Zoser in a northerly direction, next to the Pyramid of Teti, an extraordinary set of mastabas in stone belonging to high dignitaries of the Old Kingdom appears.
Mereruka’s mastaba was discovered in 1893 by the Frenchman Jacques de Morgan, who at that time was in charge of the Egyptian Antiquities Service.
Mereruka, which is told more than 84 titles, but not to say that it was
Chancellor (first magistrate) of Pharaoh Teti. The chancellor presided over the administration of the State, and was, in turn, supreme judge.
