
On this day, 12 April 1938, German print worker and anarchist Anna Götze was sentenced to 3 years’ imprisonment by Nazi authorities for underground work against the regime. She was later moved to the Ravensbrück concentration camp, where her daughter Irma, also an anarcho-syndicalist, was being held. In April 1945 the Nazis began a death march of prisoners at the camp but fortunately she and her daughter both escaped and survived the war.
