Striped Hyena (Patron request)
The time came at the dawn of the world where all the gods came to choose a realm. The striped legged hyena was soft, however, and was chased and bitten when she reached for a prize. Soon there was nothing left to claim.
“Oh, woe is me, to be the god of nothing! It is barely to exist at all.”
She kicked the scrap heap bitterly, and out of it fell a tumble of
bones from a disowned and unhallowed burial.
She picked up the skull and asked him, “What are you?”
“I am nothing.” The forgotten soul replied.
The god finally understood her purpose. She collected up the bones and
gave them a burial, and gave them a name.
And she went along her way
likewise, and her kingdom is one of mass graves and lost souls, and is
the most populous house of any god.
She no longer complains about her position, for it is a very important
role to be the god of nothing.
