New discoveries dates to the New Kingdom in Tell Edfu
The American archaeological mission of the Oriental Institute, University of Chicago, that working in the archaeological site of Tell Edfu, has uncovered part of limestone column dates to the 18th Dynasty (1550-1292 BC).
Mustafa Waziri, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, pointed out that the column is 165 cm height and diameter of 28.5 cm, incised of a line of hieroglyphs in the name of the High Priest of Horus “Amenmesse”.
He added that the mission has uncovered also a bust of a lady made of sandstone dates to the 19th Dynasty (1292-1189 BC).
