Male lions don’t
usually
get along at all once they mature. Instead they seek out a pride (of female lions) of their own. So seeing them all together like this either means they’re super-chill (and less of a danger) or badasses out looking to raise hell.

African lion prides can actually have more than one male (usually no more than three, excluding cubs), but only the strongest mates with the females. Males very frequently move in packs by themselves that are called coalitions. Often, males in a coalition are siblings who’ve been chased out of the pride they were born into. They can stay together for years until they find prides of females to join either independently or as a group. If they do join a pride of females, they’d of course have to chase away the current male(s). Males moving together isn’t all that uncommon, but a group of four is pretty large. Most coalitions are only two lions.
