You mentioned that the 5.45 is better on soft tissue, does that mean that the 7.62 tends to pass through a target cleanly? Also what if you shot through a windshield or something, which would fair better?

7.62 just takes longer to yaw and deform.

7.62 would be much better for barrier penetration, however.
