To be clear, this “This is specific in america” thing is completely false. The comments above, about how the organisation believes the gays should be put to death, from Maj. Andrew Craibe were made by an Australian, in Australia, about the Australian salvation army.
The organisation largely follows a global doctrine, which is what Craibe was talking about. They’ve allegedly changed the doctrine in light of all the negative PR, but it’s pretty well known that they haven’t really actually changed much beyond the occasional “Hey, we don’t actively hate the gays anymore” message.
It’s probably safest to just find a secular charity, or at least, a religious based one that’s not attached to such a strong history of discrimination.
