A Senior Trump Administration Official | A Warning | 2019

This seems to be the talking point du jour among the GOP. I’d suggest they’ve hit bottom, but they always seem to blast through such predictions and find a bottomer bottom.

seandotpolitics:

[Unable to defend Trump], Republicans are now saying this: Nothing is more important than revealing the identity of the whistleblower whose complaint touched off this scandal. Without knowing who that person is, we can’t judge Trump…

While it might be of some historical interest, at this point the whistleblower’s identity is irrelevant. No one is asking that we take their word on anything. They sounded the alarm that touched off an investigation, but the evidence that will provide the grounds for impeachment is coming from Trump’s own words and the testimony of multiple officials in his administration, not the whistleblower.

The whistleblower was the equivalent of someone who made an anonymous call to the police saying that there’s a robbery going on at the First National Bank. Once the police get there and catch a bunch of guys wearing masks and holding sacks of money, it doesn’t matter who made the call or what their motives were. Maybe it was a passerby, or maybe it was the estranged wife of the leader of the gang. It doesn’t change the fact that the bank was robbed and we know who the robbers are.

Furthermore, just about everything the whistleblower alleged has been corroborated

All this has been confirmed by Trump’s words and the testimony of administration officials and career civil servants. We don’t need to know the whistleblower’s identity to assess their credibility, because we aren’t relying on their credibility.

Its dumbfounding how Hamilton basically predicted this monster in the White House and set about to insure there was a protection written in the constitution to protect us against this. Too bad they didnt foresee that the Senate majority would do nothing to protect our constitution from this. They are willing to destroy our democracy just to stay in power. They don’t Care a hoot about the U.S. Constitution, this is evident in the Judiciary Committee’s impeachment hearings. Every single Republican on that committee are on the same page as the others. It’s a united front to oppose the Democrat’s impeachment process. They are so aligned with Trump, that it doesn’t matter what inexcusable outrage he commits, tweets, or speaks, they support him because their political fortune depends on his good graces; or else, face the wrath of the Trumpers back home. And I think many (Republican politicians) love Trump because he is a paper-stamp to their reactionary agenda, i.e., the Koch family, Sheldon Adelson, and a host of other right-wing billionaires. During this most recent hearing involving the Constitutional scholars, every Republican mimicked the other. One Republican Congressman would have been enough. Not one original idea among them, but old talking points, ad hominem logical fallacy arguments, and lies. It is a disgrace what the Republican Party has become; harpies for Trump.
