Netherlands to Build Roads With Recycled Plastic From the Ocean
A Netherlands-based country called VolkerWessels is using plastic collected from the ocean to build roads.
Their research suggests that PlasticRoads will be “more durable and easier to manipulate and maintain”. They also believe that this kind of construction technique can work with virtually any kind of collected plastic.
And this isn’t just a hypothetical model; VolkerWessels has already started laying pilot PlasticRoads around the Netherlands!

On this day, 30 December 1936, 50 workers at the Flint General Motors plant sat down on wildcat strike against the forcible transfer of three inspectors who had been ordered to quit the union, but refused. When workers noticed management make preparations to transfer production elsewhere, the mostly non-union workforce occupied the plant, and defied court injunctions and violent attacks from guards and police holding out till February when the company caved in, granted union recognition and the balance of power between workers and bosses was decisively changed.
