The government can’t tax rich people because the rich are, in fact, so rich that they can leverage more power than the government.

just to chime in, saying that it’s “too much work” frames the IRS as lazy and not willing to work hard. The IRS can’t audit rich people because they don’t have enough money to pay for sufficient personnel to audit everyone who isn’t on anti-poverty programs.

This is directly because of conservatives.

• Most of this unpaid tax money is owed by millionaires…
• Millionaires were 80% less likely to be audited in 2018 than in 2011…
• You are more likely to get audited if you make $20,000/yr than if you make $400,000/yr

On this day, 28 October 1967, Black Panther Huey P. Newton was stopped by policeman John Frey who, realising he had stopped a leading Panther, called for back up. After backup arrived, shots were fired leaving all three wounded, officer Frey fatally. Newton was later handcuffed to his hospital bed and beaten by police and eventually convicted of voluntary manslaughter, a charge later overturned in 1970 after a mass campaign in his support around the world. Seriously.  What is this?

It’s from a movie called Prefectural Earth Defense Force (1986). From Toho Kingdom:

In this OAV release, a number of kaiju references can be seen. The first episode includes a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it shot of Godzilla’s shadowy nighttime profile against the city, as well as a shot of a Godzilla toy amidst a great deal of wreckage. In the third episode, Mechagodzilla is mentioned in passing. But the most spectacular sighting takes place in the second episode, in which the villainous Lady Baradagi poses as a sexy high school student to seduce a teacher in order to get information on the titular PEDF. When the teacher asks about Baradagi’s parents, she states: “A long time ago in Haneda, they apparently ate a flare and passed on.” At this point, an animated b&w recreation of the climax from Varan is shown, complete with a scene of the monster consuming the lethal flare.

So it looks like I better try and track it down…
