Companies around the world are embracing what might seem like a radical idea: a four-day workweek.

The concept is gaining ground in places as varied as New Zealand and Russia, and it’s making inroads among some American companies. Employers are seeing surprising benefits, including higher sales and profits.

The idea of a four-day workweek might sound crazy, especially in America, where the number of hours worked has been climbing and where cellphones and email remind us of our jobs 24/7.

I truly can’t help but mention at every chance I get how the sleazy republican snake most responsible for the fucked state of affairs known as “US Democracy” today is Mitch McConnell.

I’d like to point out that, at any point, the Republican party could pick someone else to be their spokesperson. They don’t. McConnell is a snake, but he’s also a figurehead and shield for the rest of the Republican party that hides behind him and amplifies him.

And why would they replace him, ya know? He’s a wildly effective tool if your goal is keeping power in the hands of the few aka maintaining the status quo for as long as possible.

He’s helped lead the charge to do such republican bullshittery as stealing a Supreme Court seat, steamrolling an impeachment hearing/disallowing witnesses(????), stocking conservative judges at every level all over the country to threaten basic rights, keeping their pockets lined by billionaires who want to write laws their way so they can keep doing shit like being the worst polluters, meticulously pandering to the lowest common denominators in local elections in order to control state legislatures which then control voting districts which are then gerrymandered to death such that whole giant regions of left leaning populations all over the country have their political power diluted completely aways.

It’s horrifying.

he threatened to accuse democrats of trying to influence the election when obama wanted to tell the public russia was helping trump before election day 2016

I just learned this but Sanders’ website has an “anti-endorsements” page which I consider absolutely excellent. This is the thing that makes him tolerable for me tbh, I would love to shift the American metapolitical landscape to the point where we start recognizing that realpolitik rather than bipartisanship is the guiding principle

On the ground floor of the concrete high-rise that became the headquarters of the protest movement in Baghdad’s Tahrir Square, slogans scrawled in black and a mural of a fish dressed in a suit disappear under coats of white paint.

The young Iraqis erasing the murals are followers of Muqtada al-Sadr, an influential Shiite Muslim cleric whose support fueled the largely secular protests against government corruption that broke out last October.

Last month from Iran, where he is pursuing his religious studies, Sadr announced the protests have taken the wrong path and that he was withdrawing his support. Two weeks later, he said the protests needed to be “cleansed.”
