On this day, 9 April 1898, Paul Robeson, African-American singer, actor, communist and former shipyard worker was born.
During his lifetime, he became involved with the struggle against fascism, actively supporting the fight against Franco during the civil war, as well as the civil rights movement and workers’ struggles.
He was blacklisted for his activism during the McCarthy era.
We have other anniversaries today about Palestine, shipyard workers in Spain, Italian antifascist actors and women who fought in the Polish resistance to the Nazis. Photo by @paulnicklen I am a guest in the world of these apex predators. It is always my goal as a photographer to pass unseen in wild places, but that can be a little hard to accomplish when your subject is a curious crocodile. The key with crocs is to remain calm. Once you spend enough time with these animals, you realize how intelligent, sensitive, and cautious they can be. #Cuba #Wild #AT2G #Ndutu #Nature #Wildlife #Animals #Crocodile #Wildeyesa #Earthcapture #Underwater
