PORTLAND:

A local trans woman activist, Amelia, was raided by police last night and is facing felony Arson I charges at 25k bail. We are praying that she will have the charges dropped or lessened tomorrow. This is an attack by the police on the activist community of Portland and they might even try to make an example out of her whether or not the allegations hold any merit!

Her arraignment is TODAY, TUESDAY JUNE 2, 2020 at 2:30 PM at the MULTNOMAH COUNTY COURTHOUSE in downtown Portland. WE WILL BE MEETING AT 2 PM BEFOREHAND IN THE PARK OUTSIDE THE COURTHOUSE.

If you come later, you will have to ask for directions from the front desk - the case will be on the 7th floor but the room has not yet been declared.

We are asking as many people as possible to show up for her as possible, wearing red or black to show solidarity. Please share and let folks know that we need to #FreeAmelia

To donate to her and ALL THE OTHER ACTIVISTS being unfairly targeted by the military and police right now, please give to the General Defense Committee bail fund of Portland: https://www.gofundme.com/f/pdx-protest-bail-fund

Her bail is currently set at $25k. If the bail becomes TOO MUCH of a burden for the GDC bail fund, we will start a fundraising option just for her case - but at this moment we just want to get the word out RIGHT AWAY and get any kind of support to her.

Please share and donate!

UPDATE:

Amelia has been bailed out and is scheduled to be released at 5:30 AM, Wednesday, June 3rd (that’s in a less little than six hours).

She will need a ride and a safe room to stay or a hotel room to sleep in. For safety reasons she cannot return to her regular home right away. To support her specifically, feel free to paypal: jlybeck@protonmail.com. Thank you.

people apparently think rubber bullets aren’t dangerous or something. they’re bullets with a thin rubber coating, they’re generally not, as some seem to believe, bullets made from rubber. they’ve got the capacity to seriously injure and kill. there is nothing nonviolent or lenient about rubber bullets.

Evidence for anyone doubting this: a photographer in Minneapolis is now blind in one eye from a suspected rubber bullet.

they aim at your eyes on purpose.

Oh right the death that only happens to people who die in police custody and has never been proven to actually exist. Can’t believe I didn’t think of that, thank you NYT for showing all sides of the issue.

A sudden acute case of “Die in Custody Syndrome,” the disease where you suddenly and inexplicably die in police custody
