The Pentagon would get nearly $30 billion under the Senate Republicans’ coronavirus relief plan, including $8 billion for weapons systems.

The $29.4 billion for the Pentagon is included in the $1 trillion coronavirus aid package Senate Republicans released Monday night. […]

Republicans are defending the funding for acquisition programs as supporting the defense industrial base at a time of economic hardship and job losses, but Democrats are blasting it as a giveaway to defense contractors. […]

Of the military hardware included in the bill, $686 million would go toward the Air Force’s Lockheed Martin-made F-35A fighter jet. The Air Force would also get $720 million for Lockheed C-130J transport planes and $650 million for A-10 wing replacements, which Boeing is contracted to do.

The bill would also allocate about $1.1 billion for the Navy’s Boeing-made P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol planes, as well as $1.45 billion for four expeditionary medical ships, $260 million for one expeditionary fast transport ship, $250 million for amphibious shipbuilding and $250 million for the surface combatant supplier base program. […]

The Army, meanwhile, would get $375 million to upgrade Stryker Double V-Hull armored fighting vehicles and $283 million for new Boeing AH–64 Apache helicopters.

The bill would also provide $319.6 million for a new battery of the missile defense system known as Terminal High Altitude Area Defense, as well as radars for the battery. Another $65.8 million would go toward hypersonic missile defense, $39.2 million for cruise missile defense, $200 million for the homeland missile defense system known as the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense system and $290 million for a space-based missile sensor layer.

Apart from the hardware, the bill would also provide $11 billion to reimburse defense contractors for coronavirus-related expenses.

the dems might ‘blast’ it but they’ll still vote for it lol

Holy shit…. Never Again Action (the group who started #JewsAgainstICE) had an ICE detention truck drive through them while they were shutting down Wayne Detention Center in Rhode Island this evening (August 14th).

Like they were holding the line across the entry gate and refusing to let night shift guards in and a massive truck just, fucking, drove up to them then slowed as the protestors got up from where they were sitting, alarmed, then the truck accelerated into people.

It doesn’t seem like there are any serious injuries. The people who were around the truck after it stopped accelerating into people were pepper sprayed.

SOURCE: Never Again Action’s twitter livestream of the action and the car attack

The truck was driven by an ICE guard.

As this information is publicly available, the law in the US does not consider this doxxing, which is why it was on twitter on the first place. Here’s the guy.

Its the same people. If you can stomach working for ICE its because you’re a right-wing fascist. Same tactics, different day.

Fun fact, y’all!! Jewish protesters have been surrounding and shutting down ICE detention centers for weeks now, and we’re getting absolutely NO media coverage. None. In the slightest. And by jewish protesters I mean THOUSANDS OF US HAVE BEEN PROTESTING FOR NIGHTS ON END AND OVER 250 HAVE BEEN ARRESTED AT THIS POINT AND WE ARE GETTING ZERO COVERAGE. This is probably the biggest protest movement in american jewish history and it’s getting no coverage. We got hit with a truck DRIVEN BY A DETENTION CENTER GUARD and pepper sprayed and many people ended up in the hospital - one man in his sixties has a broken leg and a potentially broken back because of it. PLEASE REBLOG THIS. THOUSANDS OF YOUR JEWISH SIBLINGS ARE TRYING TO SHUT DOWN THE CENTERS AND WE’RE GETTING ZERO COVERAGE. PLEASE PLEASE SPREAD THIS AROUND.

Never Again Action has been protesting ICE the entire time. Recently they launched a virtual protest against ICE’s vigilante justice program in Chicago. If you want to read more about this program, this is a link to an NPR article (dated 7/10/2020) and a Chicago news article (dated 7/10/2020)

Here is the Google Docs with info on this campaign. Basically, the idea is to flood the application website with thoughts, opinions, etc.

Please participate in this protest if you can and spread this information to others.

Common Surinam toad (Pipa pipa)

The common Suriname toad is a species of frog in the family Pipidae found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical swamps, swamps, freshwater marshes, and intermittent freshwater marshes. It is threatened by habitat loss. The common Suriname toad is similar in appearance to a mottled brown leaf, and is almost completely flat. Specimens of close to 20 cm in length have been recorded, although 10–13 cm is a typical size. The Suriname toad has minute eyes, no teeth, and no tongue. It is a predator and scavenger, capturing invertebrates and small fish with its star-fingered hands to eat, or swallowing dead creatures it comes across. Suriname toads are best known for their reproductive habits. Unlike the majority of toads, the males of this species do not attract mates with croaks and other sounds often associated with these aquatic animals. Instead, they produce a sharp clicking sound by snapping the hyoid bone in their throats. The partners rise from the floor while in amplexus and flip through the water in arcs. During each arc, the female releases 3 to 10 eggs, which get embedded in the skin on her back by the male’s movements. After implantation, the eggs sink into the skin and form pockets over a period of several days, eventually taking on the appearance of an irregular honeycomb. The embryos develop through to the tadpole stage inside these pockets, eventually emerging from the mother’s back as fully developed toads, though they are less than an inch long (25 mm). Once they have emerged from their mother’s back, the toads begin a largely solitary life.
