On this day, 16 August 1819, the Peterloo massacre took place when British cavalry charged into a crowd of between 60,000 and 80,000 working class people demanding the right to vote. 15 were murdered and up to 700 injured. More info in our podcast about the massacre featuring Mike Leigh, director of the 2018 film, Peterloo: https://workingclasshistory.com/2018/11/07/e15-the-peterloo-massacre-with-mike-leigh/ https://www.facebook.com/workingclasshistory/photos/a.296224173896073/1502451136606698/?type=3
Happy Birthday To Me (1981)
“No, I’m not going to say anything to anybody, but I must admit some of your friends have a… macabre sense of humour. I just hope these kids aren’t having an adverse effect on you.”

August 15th was my birthday, but I forgot to post this picture from the day I was born!
I was such a precocious little scam when I escaped from the delivery room!
It took 3 days and 16 state troopers to recapture me.
Its that time of year again! Happy birthday to me.
Its my birthday!
