Let’s flip the Senate. Register. Donate. Vote.

I know people are being shown right now that voting does not fix everything, so some people might be feeling despair and wondering why we even bother to vote. Often the Democrats we vote in are still imperfect. But that does not make voting less important. We must still vote, and then we must HOLD THOSE DEMOCRATS ACCOUNTABLE TO THEIR CONSTITUENTS. Both political actions are important!! An crappy Democrat in office leaves much to be desired but is still miles better than a Republican, so we must ensure that Republicans do not win.

do you have ANY idea what kind of good could be done if democrats had control of the presidency, the house, AND the senate?

For those who don’t remember, the Democrats once held the U.S. Presidency, the House and the Senate, during the 111th Congress from 2009 - 2011. For all its accomplishments, America despises sweeping change and punished the 111th accordingly in the midterms. (Change that could have helped us weather a pandemic, btw.) Could it be different this time? Who knows. For all our sakes’, I hope it is.

This is my dear friend Chef Millie who is currently feeding kids in the food scarce Bronx for free.

She spent the first few months of The Plague feeding nearly 6,000 essential workers, including hospital staff, USPS workers, MTA employees and bodega workers, as well as protesters.

“When we talk about social justice, we often get hung up on the hashtag instead of the actual work. You may not march, but maybe you can feed a protester. After the money is donated, what can we do in the community to change things?”

If you can afford, here’s the donation site to support.

Raccoon dogs are incredibly cute creatures in general but I think one of their best traits is how different they look with their winter coats vs their summer coats

They go from “yeah that looks like a canid alright”

On this day, 7 September 1942, German American anti-Nazi resistance activist and writer Mildred Fish-Harnack was arrested in Preil with her husband Arvid. They were leading activists in the “Red Orchestra”, a socialist literary circle which became an underground anti-fascist organisation. Mildred helped recruit other resistance activists and helped Jewish people escape Germany. Mildred was sentenced to 6 years’ hard labour, while Arvid was sentenced to death. Hitler then ordered a retrial for Mildred, after which she was sentenced to death. She was the only woman executed on Hitler’s personal orders. https://www.facebook.com/workingclasshistory/photos/a.296224173896073/1522072324644579/?type=3
