If you haven’t seen this story, look up his name: Francisco Galicia.

Expect to see him come 2020, when the debates begin and the political battle heats up. Expect to see him in a suit testifying in court, or before Congress. This young man is a witness and a victim, and the fact that this isn’t a more prominent story on every news station is what truly frightens me.

From The Dallas News:

Galicia says he lost 26 pounds during that time in a South Texas immigrant detention center because officers didn’t provide him with enough food.

He said he wasn’t allowed to shower and his skin was dry and dirty.

He and 60 other men were crammed into an overcrowded holding area where they slept on the floor and were given only aluminum-foil blankets, he said. Some men had to sleep on the restroom area floor.

Ticks bit some of the men and some were very sick, Galicia said. But many were afraid to ask to go to the doctor because CBP officers told them their stay would start over if they did, he said.

I would remind you that concentration camps are actually real.

“I told them we had rights and asked to make a phone call. But they told us, ‘You don’t have rights to anything’,” Francisco Galicia said.

This is happening.

Colossal Statue of King Tutankhamun

This painted quartzite statue depicts King Tutankhamun. Despite its state of preservation, the facial features of the king, enhanced with color, preserve a youthful and serene expression.

He wears the Nemes headdress, which was once topped by the double crown and adorned with the frontal uraeus cobra. The rest of his clothing includes a ceremonial beard, broad collar and the traditional pleated kilt.

A dagger with a falcon-headed handle is slipped under his belt, which is decorated with a pattern of broken lines. On the belt buckle, the name of the young king was replaced by that of King Horemheb.

New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, reign of Tutankhamun, ca. 1332-1323 BC. Now in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo. JE 59869

workingclasshistory:

On this day, 8 September 1931, an Australian rules football match between West Adelaide and Port Adelaide was boycotted by a number of Port players because West Adelaide had selected a police officer to play and he was known to have been involved in protecting scabs and breaking pickets in an earlier waterfront strike. The game still went ahead but West Adelaide were heckled and abused and at one point when the ball was kicked into the crowd it came back sliced in two.

“Millennials are so entitled"

Actually, the ‘you’re welcome’/’no problem’ issue is simply a linguistics misunderstanding. Older ppl tend to say you’re welcome, younger ppl tend to say no problem. This is because for older people the act of helping or assiating someone is seen as a task that is not expected of them, but is them doing extra, so it’s saying ‘I accept your thanks because I know I deserve it.’

‘No problem’, however, is used because younger people feel not only that helping or assisting someone is a given and expected, but also that it should be stressed that you’re need for help was no burden to them (even if it was).

Basically, older people think help is a gift you give, younger people think help is an expectation required of them.

DAMN STRAIT.

Basic Millennial complaint: “I want shelter and economic security.”

Some bitter old man: “WHAT THE FUCK? WHO TOLD YOU THAT YOU DESERVE ANYTHING? THANK ME WHEN YOU BAG MY GROCERIES FOR ME, PEON.”
