Contemplating the end of summer and the beginning of fall here in the Northern Hemisphere. Hoping we can all find a bit of peace in small, stolen moments as the seasons shift again.

2015 - Here are some gifs of Donald Trump being attacked by a bald eagle named Uncle Sam, literally the least patriotic thing that can happen to an American. [video]
I’m reblogging this again because I finally realized why this is so funny to me, as a bird person.
In the first gif, what you’re seeing is a man who has zero idea how to handle a bird. That’s a heavy bird, and he’s got his arm stretched out as far as it will go in an attempt to keep the bird away from his face. What that does is create unstable footing for Uncle Sam. The handler is there trying to hold up Trump’s arm, but the bird has already realized it needs to leave or it will fall. In the first gif the bird is not attacking Trump- it is trying to get away from him so it doesn’t get hurt.
In the second gif, what we see is a bird that remembers what just happened and is blaming Trump for it. Uncle Sam sees Trump reach for its tether, and makes a lunge at Trump’s hand to keep him away. The bird /does not/ want to hang out with Trump because it has learned that Trump has no idea what he is doing.
Uncle Sam is rejecting Trump based on Trump’s proven inability to properly handle Uncle Sam. And that is both hilarious and beautiful.
Good bird.
Always reblog Uncle Sam telling Trump to fuck off
This is a better explanation of these gifs than I could have given!
I had to reblog this, for obvious reasons.
A feel-good gif set
i’ve met Uncle Sam multiple times (the man helping trump in the first gif is his owner, and he travels around and gives presentations about birds of prey) and so i always find this super funny when it goes around because:
a) his owner was a bit too eager to tell us about meeting trump, but he also explained another thing that trump did wrong, which is that in the second gif, he approaches Uncle Sam from his blind side. naturally, Uncle Sam was startled and lashed out.
b) trump called him a “very dangerous bird”, but Uncle Sam is a rehabilitated bird who’s blind in one eye and has a bad wing, and he’s regularly included in nature presentations attended by children. i met him as a child. children are allowed to walk up to him as long as they don’t touch him because he’s a chill old bird who’s used to it.
the president of the united states is less respectful to an old harmless bird than a bunch of CHILDREN
even if the fraud was like 5% it wouldn’t compare to rich people cheating the system by trillions lmao
Also, SNAP “fraud” is like exchanging some of your stamps for cash to buy necessities you can’t buy with stamps, like soap or deodorant or tampons
TBH even if one hundred percent of people on food stamps were committing food stamp fraud I’d still be in favor of keeping the program around
Hey I wanna talk about this.
I work at a drug addiction counseling center. A ton of my clients have, at one time or another, sold their food stamps. This is basically exactly what the GOP is afraid of, right? Drug addicts selling their food stamps.
I have learned, now, to ask them WHY they sold their food stamps. Here is an incomplete list of the answers:
- I need tampons, and you can’t buy them with foodstamps
- See above RE: toilet paper
- I was living in a hotel with no kitchen then. I had to buy pre-prepared food
- The homeless shelter won’t let me keep food in my locker or room, so I have to buy pre-prepared food (Yes, really)
- I had to make rent
- My sister had to make rent
- My son had to make rent
- I needed co-pays to get my medication or I’ll die
- I needed co-pays to get my medication or I’ll loose control of my mental health
But the absolute most common form of food stamp fraud I see? Giving away food stamps to other family members who get no food stamps or insufficient food stamps to feed their families. I see that every month. People glassy eyed and hungry because they gave away their food to their adult kids, their grand kids, cousins, siblings etc.
So, is food stamp fraud rampant? In some places, yes. And I’m not about to chastise people for it.
A broken system more or less admitting it’s a broken system, and just wanting to do itself in even more instead of fix itself.
And Fox is fine with this.

“fun fact: as a DV survivor i cannot register to vote because doing so makes my address public. anyone who is fleeing or hiding from an abuser is automatically disenfranchised from the political process and this is a feature, not a bug”]
I don’t know of the original poster might not be aware
but!
if you’ve been a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking, you can enroll into the address confidentiality program (free of cost!) and be registered to vote as an absentee voter and your name and address will not be made available for the public
it is super easy to get enrolled - the application takes like 5 minutes, but it has to be with someone who is certified to do it (most likely an advocate! try going to a family justice center in your area or calling the Attorney Generals office in your area!!!!)
ALSO :
you don’t need to have any police reports or have a protection order to qualify!!! you just have to sign stating that you’ve been a victim of one of the aforementioned crimes.
