On this day, 30 September 1919, compositors and pressmen working at The Daily Sketch newspaper in London refused to print the paper until an editorial criticising an ongoing railway strike was deleted. That same day, another newspaper had its publication delayed by its workers demanding that a government advert appealing to the public to resist the strike be thrown out. However they were persuaded by union leaders to withdraw their demand. Newspaper packers and delivery drivers also tried to delay and sabotage their distribution. Two days later, bosses at the far-right Daily Mail tabloid threatened to close the publication down rather than give in to a complaint from their print workers about their coverage of the railway strike.

At this time, my biggest regret in life is voting third party in 2016. Never again. Not until the bipartisan system is eliminated.

I genuinely believed there was hope for reform. I deeply apologize for my blind naïveté.

Please, if you are eligible–VOTE. You don’t have to go in person–you can still request an absentee ballot. And as much as I wish voting third party did something meaningful, it truly doesn’t. And no matter how you look at it, there is no comparing Biden to Trump.

Since Trump has been in office, there’s been a dramatic resurgence in white supremacy in America. We are in the midst of the biggest civil rights protest in American history. Please ask yourselves sincerely if you believe there would have been the same civil unrest under anyone else. Tell me you think people would be as divided as they are today if Trump had never taken office. Tell me you still think there’d be just as many idiots insisting that wearing a mask during a pandemic is “unconstitutional” if someone else had been president.

The president influences the people.

Removing the racist, misogynistic asshole won’t remove all racist, misogynistic assholes, but it will rightfully make those people uncomfortable again by letting them know they’re outnumbered.

The stakes in this election are higher than any within even my older sister’s lifetime. You have the ability to be part of a huge force for change. Please don’t let yourselves down, and don’t give up. We DON’T have to sit and take it. We CAN throw him OUT.
