Located in the Air Massif of Niger are two of the largest animal rock petroglyphs in the world. Known as the Dabous Giraffes they have been dated to about 8,000BCE. While the artist will forever remain unknown, this area of Niger has over 900 similar carvings of animals and humans. The period of these glyphs (12,000-7,000BCE) was known as the Neolithic Subpluvial, a time when the Sahara was a much wetter savannah that stretched thousands of miles and could sustain animal and human life. The giraffes are carved into a sandstone outcrop and depict a large male and smaller female. Shifting desert sands possibly covered the glyphs for millennia before they were discovered in 1987.

Cool concept art for Dario Argento’s Phenomena (1985).
A lot of assholes respond to this by saying that it’s bad to give people anything for free.
But it never even mentions that. Nothing about this post implies that it would be free. People still have to pay for their plate. They just can’t get seconds until everyone has one.
cuba actually has something similar to this in the form of limiting the number of houses an individual can own to 2, and, relatedly, a home ownership rate of 90% (the usa has a home ownership rate of 65%)
and what’s funny is i can already anticipate the cornballs who will moan about how “it doesn’t matter if cuba has a higher home ownership rate, limiting the number of houses a person can own is tyranny!”- but inherently someone owning houses they don’t live in generally depends on state violence to enforce that property claim, to arrest trespassers/squatters, or, relevant to one of the primary reasons people own houses they don’t live in, to evict tenants.
so what’s the real tyranny here? not being able to have a second vacation home? or cops dragging weeping families from their homes because they couldn’t make rent?
looks like we fired a $500,000 missile from a $300,000,000 warplane to shoot down a $100 hobbyist balloon. It circumnavigated the globe 7 times before it met its end at the hands of the American Air Force and a political imperative to Not Look Weak. You can hardly make this shit up.
This blog is mostly so I can vent my feelings and share my interests. Other than that, I am nothing special.
If you don't like Left Wing political thought and philosophy, all things related to horror, the supernatural, the grotesque, guns or the strange, then get the fuck out. I just warned you.
