Republican politics of increased suffering strikes again. And again.
Hey @liberalsarecool, don’t you dare exempt your disgusting oligarchic austerity party of yours too, they’re just as culpable. Don’t pretend like people like noted Segregationist Joe Biden didn’t expand mass incarceration, the Patriot Act, and cause so many deaths of despair from making laws causing student debt to follow you after bankruptcy. The party of $600 is enough. Fuck you.
@liberalsarecool I appreciate that you’re angry, but keep in mind: the Dems happily passed an increased military budget (the same military that was made for reactionary politics, whose members are openly fascist, whose leaders are doing the work of oligarchs) but made a zillion TURTLE MAN BAD excuses about why they weren’t going to give us $2k each.
This isn’t just a Republican issue. This isn’t the system broken. This is the system working.
People in this thread are upset with you because your post suggests you almost get it, but veer off at the last second. It’s not cowardice, but it’s like, poverty of political imagination.
I veer off the ‘both sides are bad’ active measures narrative because I believe one side is worse. Trump dismantled a pandemic response team left by Obama. The Democratic House has passed hundreds of bills that would have made a difference in so many ways that were killed by Mitch/GOP.
You can hate on me. Doesn’t really get much done. Send me your pamphlets.
Maybe this is the cynic in me, and let’s be honest, there’s a lot to be cynical about. Maybe the Democratic House passed those bills exactly because they knew the GOP and McConnell would kill those bills. Democrats are always ‘we did our bit, it’s not our fault’ As @soul-hammer notes, Democrats had no trouble siding with the GOP to pass another bloated military budget and they had absolutely no trouble siding with the GOP to block $2k payments to American’s. Pelosi all but admitted she hindered the stimulus payments before the election to help Biden, and even halved the $1,200 pre-election stimulus to $600 post election, because Democrats really don’t care about you, it was just about getting a blue fascist back in the White House, and returning things to ‘normal’; more wars of aggression, more blocking Medicare for all, more corporate welfare, more surveillance state, more persecution. Republicans may be worse, but the gap really ain’t that big either!
@liberalsarecool I’m not ‘hating on you,’ I’m stating fact. I’m trying to be kind to you, because you don’t have power in this situation and you’re not a fascist. I don’t see the point in being cruel to libs online. You are not the real subject of my ire. If I were being mean, you’d know.
Biden is demonstrating what Obama’s ‘pandemic response’ would have looked like, and it’s almost identical to Trump’s. I mean, if his website is anything to go by. Which, to be fair, it’s not, because campaign sites are worth the paper they’re printed on. It’ll probably be far paltrier.
The Democrats were so pants-pissingly scared of a social democrat winning their primary that they made my elderly parents go vote in the middle of a fucking pandemic. How’s that foe ‘believing in the science’? How’s that for a ‘pandemic response’? I don’t even buy the ‘harm reduction’ argument any more. Very few leftists were born radicals. Most of the ones I knew grew up in conservative or liberal households. We heard all the arguments you’ve heard.
If the GOP and Mitch weren’t there, the Dems would not pass those bills. Mitch plays a convenient heel, an excuse Democrats have as to why they won’t get anything done. Want to know how I know? Look at how single payer bills were treated in California. Democratic supermajority, many people running on single payer. They get into power, suddenly they do jack shit. While a single state is not a law of the land, it truly tells you something about how Democrats run their cities. Without Mitch and his gang of rapacious ghouls, they stop playing at giving a shit about us. Ask another Obama alum and true-vote-blue city official, Rahm Emanuel.
Even if you had a Democrat who wanted full communism now but for whatever reason decided to work within extant structures of bourgeois democracy, their will would be subsumed. A machine’s function is what it does, it does what it’s built to do, and the driver does not matter. In this case our system was built to find new and creative legal justifications to put boots on workers’ necks.
The right-wing insurgent assault on the nation’s Capitol—with its calls for lynching the vice president, the killing of a police officer, the beatings, the thefts, and the vandalism, all directed at smashing democracy and incited by Donald Trump—has kicked the needle of the Democratic anger gauge deep into the red zone. The outrage has persuaded 191 House Democrats to publicly support impeachment—according to an ongoing tally by Daily Kos Elections—and sparked some unusually furious responses to Republicans trying to downplay the gravity of the attack.
As Cruz knows, calling nazis nazis isn’t what’s tearing the country apart. It’s people behaving like nazis.
Some Republicans want Democrats to chill out for the sake of the nation. That at least is the message of a small group who sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Friday night:
The lawmakers, led by Representative Ken Buck of Colorado, warned in a letter to Biden on Saturday that Trump’s impeachment would inflame his supporters anew, and damage Biden’s efforts to unify the country.
“In the spirit of healing and fidelity to our Constitution, we ask that you formally request that Speaker Nancy Pelosi discontinue her efforts to impeach President Donald J. Trump a second time,” they wrote. […]
They added that impeachment “would undermine your priority of unifying Americans, and would be a further distraction to our nation at a time when millions of our fellow citizens are hurting because of the pandemic and the economic fallout.”
These lawmakers want everyone to forget that if they and a solid minority of their colleagues had supported the first impeachment, Trump wouldn’t have been around to make the pandemic and economic downturn as bad of disasters as they are. The incredible notion that Rep. Buck and his compatriots are putting forth is that if Democrats just lay off the guy whose incendiary efforts incited a lethal operation against the seat of American government, then the healing will go smoother is as delusional as the guy still squatting in the Oval Office for the next 11 days. They seem to believe there will be no second attack on or before Jan. 20. They pretend these thugs and their thug mouthpiece in the White House are finished with their insurrection. …
This blog is mostly so I can vent my feelings and share my interests. Other than that, I am nothing special.
If you don't like Left Wing political thought and philosophy, all things related to horror, the supernatural, the grotesque, guns or the strange, then get the fuck out. I just warned you.
