Now that the dust has settled, I think it’s hilarious that neo nazis stormed the capital building with minimum resistance and still didn’t manage to accomplish shit.
Like there was no tear gas, no tanks, no rubber bullets, no white vans, nothing. They got into the capital building, armed, nothing in their way and like…stole a podium. Shot one guy. Got arrested. Were dismissed by their former allies as a false flag.
Fuckers basically had the red carpet rolled out for them and just went “well fuck now what do we do?”
it’s like they had no real plan beyond “storm the capital”, because they’re a bunch of fucking LARPers with shit for brains.
Also cos they want to preserve and reinforce state power, so they’re not exactly gonna trash the gaff. It was funny how even in that moment of lawlessness many walked through the lobby between the guide ropes lol fucking divs.
I like to think anarchists would ransack the place, even lifting the skirting boards and picture rails for the revolution. The stuff you could take from there is unreal. Just the canteen alone, and the vending machines. Loot them friggers straight away.

They didn’t “shoot one guy”. An unarmed woman wearing a Trump flag as a cape was deliberately shot in the throat by a cop behind a barricade, despite the fact she was white.

Everyone who reblogged this post is clearly on position number two. There’s no contradiction, there are Democrats who are shitting themselves over an attack on their precious institutions and there are anarchists who are mostly not at all impressed. This post is full of the latter. But let me specify, just to be clear:
Are they terrorists? Well, ‘terrorism’ is a deliberately vague term that gets used as a shorthand for ‘scary and evil’ and to deter you from looking any further at what the problem is. When democrats call them ‘terrorists’, it’s to avoid talking about their ideology (see point number 3). The word ‘terrorist’ creates fear and distraction, but not a realistic threat assessment and a tactical response. Every time we give power to the word, we‘re just charging up a weapon that will inevitably be targeted at us. So ‘terrorist’ is never a useful term and it’s not suddenly useful now.
Is it a coup attempt? I’m sure the soldier-cosplayers thought it was, but if so, it’s a pathetic coup attempt. You have to be utterly clueless to think that capturing a building and maybe a few politicians inside gives you control over a country. That’s not how a coup work, like, at all. The US should know because they’re organized a bunch over the years. I don’t know what’s more pathetic: that there were Capitol stormers who thought that this would work or that there are Democrats who believe that their whole government could be brought down by capturing a building. The idea is ridiculous.
Are they nazis? Yes. Absolutely. By ideology, they’re obviously nazis. There’s a lot of posts out there documenting the far-right ideologies of participants and the fascist roots of QAnon. They’re nazi’s. It is possible to be nazis and be pathetic losers, that’s quite common actually.
Should we be vigilant and militantly anti-fascist? Yes. Absolutely. Always. And every time these fuckers get more violent, we need to get better at fighting back. But there’s no point in panicking and making a riot into something bigger than it was. This is not an army capable of seizing anything. Keep calm and keep on being antifascist.
Recognize that most fascists are pathetic, organize as if they’re not.
And mock them every step of the way, just because it’s fun.
To be clear, this is not the same thing as the whole “portraying the enemies as too weak and too powerful at the same time” thing you always see in fascist propaganda. On the contrary, we’re taking a realistic middle ground between the two extremes: that they are dangerous, but not infallible. Large groups of ignorant, violent people do have the potential to cause widespread harm to innocents, especially if those fascists are in positions of power. However, their ignorance and pride causes them to overestimate themselves, thinking that the ability to bring people harm makes them unstoppable killing machines when they’re just as mortal and fallible as any human.
You have to find that balance when talking about fascists. If you dismiss them as harmless idiots like the general public has done for too long, you risk putting them in a position where they’ll be able to cause widespread harm without anyone the wiser until it’s too late. If you hype them up as these all-powerful bogeymen, you risk emboldening them to commit more and more depravities while at the same time convincing innocents that fighting back is pointless.
Trump being mass-banned from social media platforms is a cynical attempt to save face now that he’s low enough for them to do it without consequences & does nothing to address the years of immeasurable harm they’ve already allowed through inaction, but it is ALSO very very funny & good

His name is Eugene Goodman. In a now-viral video, he is seen confronting White Supremacists and using himself as bait to provide cover for the evacuation of lawmakers. He was alone in a hallway when the mob reached him, and Congress was being evacuated to the left. He lured the mob away from lawmakers, drawing them in the opposite direction and up the stairs.
Officer Goodman deserves recognition for his amazing bravery and selflessness. Because of him, Congress was evacuated safely and no lawmakers were assassinated on that terrible day. He risked everything to save others, and he is a hero.
