As a Generation X guy…I guess I made a mistake. Without thinking, I quickly ran over and threw myself between a fire hydrant and the on-coming sled…absorbing the majority of the impact, causing me to do a full flip (you can hear the grunt). What I FAILED to do was to NOT move…and get myself an epic #fail video of my child and her friend wrapping themselves around an immovable object at 30mph. 😤 I have so much to learn from these young “influencer” types. 😉
i cannot get over at this newsstory. i CANNOT. i cannot believe that they paid someone to write a story about how people aren’t having children in the middle of a global pandemic that cost MILLIONS of people their jobs. this is the stupidest fucking thing i’ve ever seen!! do they think people are just sitting at home like “well can’t find any new series to binge, might as well have a fucking baby! that’s the next logical step, right?” i’m going to SCREAM.
Conservatives: Individuals need to be more fiscally responsible! That’s why people are poor.
Everyone: Hmm, well, we have no money and it’s not getting better, we definitely can’t afford to raise and care for a child much less the medical costs of having one.
Conservatives: No, not like that, we still need human resources to exploit!

Read the article. It goes over a variety of reasons why this baby bust occurred, and it talks extensively about how the trending birth decline that existed even before COVID can be linked to economic issues, the changing role of women, the increasingly hostile financial environment for child raising. It even talks about how this problem can be helped by addressing the costs of childcare and improving immigration. The point of the article is literally that COVID is not the one off. This is a legitimate population decline issue.
Cut this shit out. This is literally fascist conservative tactics 101: frame news media as incompetent, stupid, liars, or just stating the obvious. If it’s obvious to you, GREAT, be thankful you had access to that education, but it isn’t obvious to a lot of people - that’s why they’re reporting on it! They are trying to educate others. This kind of pithy, self-righteous nonsense is how you create a huge segment of the population that literally distrusts everything that comes out of the MSM and refuses to interpret their material critically. This is how you get people in power who can feed into that delusion and create vacuums where people see only the reality they want.
Not to mention this is also how you increasingly create a hostile perception of journalists and new media advocates. That’s how you get journalists being attacked on site, their access to events stripped, their profession defunded, and in general making it much harder to do their job. There are plenty of things to criticize about the MSM, but pick one that is actually relevant. Stop sitting here posturing yourself as enlightened when at the end of the day, you’re using the same goddamn tactics as the other side.
This blog is mostly so I can vent my feelings and share my interests. Other than that, I am nothing special.
