A CME IS COMING: Yesterday, the sun launched a coronal mass ejection (CME) into space: movie. It wasn’t aimed directly at Earth. Nevertheless, we might feel its effect on March 23rd when the storm cloud is expected to deliver a glancing blow to Earth’s magnetic field.
AURORAS IN THE USA: A solar wind stream hit Earth’s magnetic field on March 20th, igniting a brief but strong G2-class geomagnetic storm. Bright auroras illuminated skies over Canada, then spilled across the border into the USA. “There was an explosion of color,” reports Greg Ash, who took this picture outside Duluth, Minnesota.
The Shrine of Taharqa
Taharqa came from the land of Kush, part of ancient Nubia. (modern day North Sudan). He ruled over both Egypt and Nubia.
His land was rich in cattle, gold and minerals. It was on the trade route for the rest of Africa and unusual and exotic things such as ivory, ebony, incense, oils, animal skins and ostrich feathers travelled along this road.
Much of Taharqa’s land was desert. However, many people lived by the River Nile which flooded every year. The floods brought much needed water to the lands and resulted in fertile mud that was excellent for growing crops.

On this day, 21 March 1973, the Mental Patients Union was founded in London by a small group of mental health patients and supporters. They argued that psychiatry was a form of control of the working class under capitalism, and so in the same way that workers organised themselves, so too must mental health patients.
