Bowie’s iconic film performance - and Nicolas Roeg brought the best out in him, playing off of the Space Oddity’s inherent weirdness. 

The kinds of films Roeg was making would be close to impossible to make today, he was as uncompromising a filmmaker as there ever was.

THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH (1976).

The planet scenes were filmed at White Sands, New Mexico. There’s a great line in the original book about cats: “He thought, looking at the cat, if only you were the intelligent species on this world. And then, smiling wryly, maybe you are.”
