Dr. De Brun, like many professionals, has noted on his Twitter account that his “Posts are my own views & do not reflect the Medical Profession.” Also, he lists his occupations as, “GP/Microbiologist/Philosopher/Parent.” Oookay, then.

I have a problem with “microbiologist,” if only because Dr. De Brun seems to believe that AIDS, chlamydia, gonorrhea, Ebola, hepatitis, meningitis, and conjunctivitis would be affected by the mask mandate in effect in countries around the world. The last I heard, three of the diseases listed above are spread by sexual contact. If you’re having sex in a restaurant, I admit, my first thought is that you deserve whatever you get, including a bad meal. (Seriously, I’ve had friends complain about customers who actually thought nookie in a booth was a great idea. Just, for the love of all that’s holy, don’t do it.) Three others are transmitted via blood and bodily fluids. And conjunctivitis is nowhere near as deadly as COVID-19. …

… Fox News host Tucker Carlson got a lot more than he bargained for when he walked into a store in Livingston, Montana to stock up on gear for a fly fishing trip. While in the store he was confronted by a local fly fishing guide, Dan Bailey, who apparently didn’t want to miss the opportunity to give the Fox News host a piece of his mind. “Dude, you are the worst human being known to mankind,” Bailey can be heard saying in the video. “I want you to know that.” Carlson kept his voice down and only replied “I appreciate that.” The video quickly went viral.

The 22-second video starts when the confrontation had already started and it seems Bailey is talking to Carlson about something related to his stance on vaccines. It appears Carlson at one point asks him to keep in mind he is with his child. “I don’t care, man,” Bailey replies. He went on to say: “What you have done to this state, to the United States, to everyone else in this world. What you have done to families, what you have done to everybody else in this world. I don’t care that your daughter is here. What you’ve done to people’s families…” Carlson keeps whispering and replies: “Settle down, son.” Bailey tells Carlson to not call him son, but the Fox News host walks away and that’s where the video ends.

tumblr provides an abusive relationship. We jump through all kindsa hoops to post stuff, and share sites, images, and info with our like-minded fellow users. tumblr sits there, grinning its head off, coming up with new ways to ignore community desires and needs, make changes only where they aren’t needed, and make it harder for us to use the site. tumblr won’t get rid of the pr0n bots, who still flourish, but still wrongfully flags regular users’ posts. Almost daily I find new pr0nbots have liked my most popular posts and/or began following me. When visiting these new followers, and the likers who have suspicious usernames, I get one or more people’s naughty bits which have been shaved to within an inch of their poor lives shoved into my screen and face; or still-completely-post-free blank bots, most of whose likes are similar to the above. We jump through even more hoops to report and block them, but Hydra-like, six more invariably pop up and replace each one.

We’re still seeing users who post anti-vaxx and plague conspiracy nonsense, which literally endangers LIVES. Is it hard to understand that such behavior must not be tolerated?

The nazis, Qfers, and other supremist (not a typo) scum still proliferate like the one-celled, brainless, bigoted wrigglers they are, goosesteppingly parading their hate w/o consequences. Is it hard to understand that such behavior must not be tolerated, too?

Misogyny still runs rampant, and not strictly among male users. I’ve had anti-woman, pro-merkin von bankrupt, pro-gun, anti-reproductive rights abuse from females who act equally psychotic as the males. Is it really so hard to understand that it must not be tolerated?

None of that crap is needed here or anywhere else, esp given the plague, police brutality, and public bigotry out in meatspace!

Why do we have to download browser extensions to provide features which never should have been discontinued, or others we’ve begged for, but are ignored? Why is tagging our posts complicated by unwanted, inappropriate, often laughable suggestions, instead of suggesting only tags we’ve actually used? An anti-vax tag was suggested while I was posting an article about the dangers of the delta variant! Why can we not delete our screwed-up tags, so we’re no longer embarrassed and irritated by them every time you suggest them to us? When can we have tag clouds? When will we be able to run searches on our own blogs that actually work?

C'mon, tumblr. Treat us like human beings. Throw out the garbage. Give us some goodies, and love us back.

ETA: Not only do we still get stuck with all of the above, they’ve instituted a potential paywall. Anyone I follow who pulls the paywall pose will lose me along with others.
