This May, the CDC issued guidance for summer camps which included encouraging all attendees (over 12) to get vaccinated, and requiring those who refuse to quarantine for two weeks beforehand and to provide a negative COVID test 1-3 days before admission.
But a lot of camps, Christian summer camps in particular, did not follow that guidance. And it has not ended well.
The latest? Dozens of COVID-19 cases across 17 states have been tracked back to a rural Christian summer camp in Transylvania County, North Carolina, called “The Wilds.” Kids, staff, and counselors came for a “funtastic” adventure combined with daily worship and serving the Lord and came back serving up a contagious virus instead. COVID, not vampirism — though we’d probably have a better chance of convincing the unvaccinated that vampires exist and are preying on children at summer camps than we would convincing them to believe that COVID is real and they need to get the vaccine. Especially if they are working at a crowded summer camp. …

LA MARQUE, Texas – A husband and wife who didn’t trust the COVID-19 vaccine changed their minds when they ended up in the ICU.
By that point it was too late for vaccination - and now they are begging relatives to make sure their children get their shots.
Lydia Rodriguez and her husband Lawrence, of La Marque, Texas, were both admitted to the hospital nearly three weeks ago with the virus, family members say.
“We’ve been told they are very, very, very, very sick is what the doctor told us,” said her cousin, Dottie Jones. “And if they do survive, it’s going to be a long, long road.”
Jones said the couple had not been vaccinated for COVID-19.
“They didn’t believe in vaccines,” said Jones. “And you try to talk to them, and she just didn’t like that. Didn’t trust it, I guess.” …
… Roughly 57.4% of the US population has received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine and roughly 49.5% is fully vaccinated, according to CDC data. Much like face masks, the vaccines became highly politicized in some parts of the country, resulting in vastly different coverage rates. Areas with low vaccination rates are now seeing dangerous outbreaks.
Average Covid-19 hospitalization rates are nearly three times higher among states that have fully vaccinated less than half of their residents compared to the average among those that have vaccinated more than half, a CNN analysis of federal data found. And Covid-19 case and death rates over the past week were on average more than twice as high among states that have vaccinated less than half of their residents.
President Joe Biden this week said the pandemic rages on “because of the unvaccinated.”
“If you’re not vaccinated, you’re not nearly as smart as I thought you were,” Biden said. …
A new social app designed as a community for the unvaccinated is testing Google and Apple Inc.’s policies concerning the spread of misinformation about Covid-19 vaccines.
Unjected, started by two women from Hawaii, bills itself as a community for “like-minded people that support medical autonomy and free speech.” The app allows users to make a profile, match and message with other members. It launched in May shortly after the largest online dating sites, including Match Group’s Tinder and Bumble Inc., introduced perks to encourage users to get vaccinated. Sometimes dubbed the “Tinder for anti-vaxxers,” Unjected has since racked up 18,000 downloads, according to Apptopia, and plenty of jokes on Twitter.
Though the platform began as a site for dating and friendships, it recently rolled out a social feed. A routine update to the app triggered a review by Google Play that found it hadn’t sufficiently policed user-generated content for misinformation. In emails to Unjected, Google flagged posts that included claims of vaccines being “experimental mRNA gene modifiers,” “bioweapons” and “nano-technology microchips” used to link people to the 5G network.
Google told Unjected on July 16 it had two weeks to remove the posts from its app store or get booted off. “We’ve had to walk a censorship tightrope,” co-founder Shelby Thomson said. Unjected removed the social feed to get back in compliance on Google Play but Thomson said she plans to restore it, along with the flagged posts, and hopes to “stay under the radar.” …
