The face of CPR doll “Resuscitation Annie” is based off a death mask of a woman who drowned in Paris in the 1880s. Annie is also known as The Unknown Woman of the Seine (L'Inconnue de la Seine).
Although her true identity was never discovered, her face is now famous and teaches us how to save lives every single day.
A real face was used as it was believed that a model that was as lifelike and recognizable as possible would motivate CPR students to take their training more seriously.
