Report Disney, Report Universal, Knotts, the Large Golf Courses.

Report them en mass and force their business behavior to change.

image
image

If you want to report water waste by Disney, Nestle, Universal, Palm Springs Golf Course, etc., go here and select “multiple types of waste”, because nothing else actually fits real wasters like them.  (The other nine options are about ratting out your neighbors [7], complaining about cleanliness in hotels [1], or complaining about restaurants serving water unasked [1]. Fuck all of these.)

“Multiple types of waste” requires a comment, but somehow I don’t think anyone on Tumblr will have any problems sharing their opinion.  In vast detail, if necessary.

You can also take photos of Disney’s, Knotts’, Universal’s, etc. water waste and attach it to the report.

This can be done through desktop or mobile.

Have fun!

It does require you have the address of the offender, and for those of us too lazy to google that while filling in the form:
Disneyland
1313 S Harbor Blvd
Anaheim CA 92802

Universal Studios
100 Universal City Plaza,
Universal City CA 91608

Knotts Berry Farm
8039 Beach Bld
Buena Park CA 90620

As not a resident of CA I have zero idea what large golf courses need to be added so feel free, let’s make a lovely hit parade of folks to call out :)

It is of course unconscionable to use so much water for entertainment purposes during a drought. I would point out though, that entertainment venues like those being discussed here are, are not even a significant water user relative to other industries. Animal agriculture is by far the single biggest water user in California. As a comparison, commercial and institutional use (like water parks) accounts for 1% of total water use… agriculture is 93%.

You’ll note that despite the fact that California produces a massive 81% of the world’s almonds, animal feed still amounts to higher total resource use - that is how water intensive animal agriculture is. It isn’t just water either, animal agriculture also uses a disproportionate amount of California’s (and the world’s) arable land, crops, energy and antibiotics, while being one of the single biggest causes of global warming.

I implore you all to think for just a minute about why this wasn’t even mentioned by anyone in this post, or why it is conveniently absent from these infographics. If we’re going to be (rightly) shifting the blame onto corporations and industry for wasting resources, let’s at least target the main offenders. Reporting them will do nothing, but boycotting them on mass absolutely will. If you don’t approve of their behaviour, stop funding it.

Nazi leaders were hanged in Nuremberg for deliberately killing civilians. But U.S. war leaders committed war crimes, too. General LeMay burned alive over 100,000 people during the March 9-10, 1945, firebombing of Tokyo.

At least 200,000 people, including thousands of children, were killed by the atom bombs dropped on Hiroshima on Aug. 6, 1945, and Nagasaki three days later. Even decades later people died from radiation-caused illnesses.
