On this day, 23 August 1966, 200 Aboriginal workers at the Wave Hill pastoral station in Australia walked out on strike for equal pay with white workers. They remained out for nine years, and from a wage dispute they then demanded return of the land to them, from British aristocrat Lord Vestey. They were eventually successful in being given back a proportion of the land.
This is a short history of the dispute: https://libcom.org/history/wave-hill-walk-1966-1975 https://www.facebook.com/workingclasshistory/photos/a.296224173896073/1791284177723391/?type=3
