Alamo Drafthouse to have Godzilla Anniversary screenings, featuring Godzilla vs Hedorah, Shin Godzilla, The Return of Godzilla, Godzilla vs Biollante, and the world premier of the 4K remaster of the original 1954 film.

They are partnering with Janus Films, which means Janus has the 4K remaster now (Criterion has started UHD releases for some of their films), and this might be *takes grain of salt* the first clue to a Criterion Heisei era set.

On this day, 6 October 1976, the Thammasat University massacre (aka: “the 6 October event” in Thailand) occured when state forces and far-right royalist mobs attacked student protesters after four to five thousand students from various universities had demonstrated for more than a week against the return of former military dictator Thanom Kittikachorn to Thailand from Singapore. After years of workers, peasants and students fighting for democracy, social justice, an end to long-held privileges and even in some cases an end to capitalism itself, the Thai ruling class responded with the utmost brutality and installed a new dictatorship over the mutilated bodies of those struggling for freedom.
