i think people are mistaking the point of dystopian literature as “trying to imagine a worse world” rather than “trying to point out how fucked up our world is right now”
When a Dystopian author predicted something, it’s not that they had hyper awareness or a supernatural divination talent, but that they saw a problem, went “look at that, it’s going to go very bad if we don’t do something”
and then no one listened.
