Ever since the time they threatened to close all their soup kitchens in NYC if a law that did something as simple as allow companies to extend spousal benefits to their employee’s same-sex domestic partners I have refused to buy from them or donate to them.

Also, the married women are not paid (and therefore can’t qualify for assistance if they should ever divorce, etc). And worth “of course” less than a man.

This is my seasonal reminder that when the Salvation Army was founded, it was so hated that people formed a rival group specifically to disrupt them.

Police in Glasgow tried to seize “evidence” from a queer, Yiddish, anarchist vegan cafe. The high crime? Displaying a “fuck the police” tote bag in their window.
The police forced the cafe to removed the bag for “breach of peace” but staff put up an identical bag right after the seizure. Officers challenged co-founder Morgan Holleb when the bag was back up. So, he flipped it around to the Yiddish side, which also reads “fuck the police.” He then wrote “fuck the police” in permanent marker on the front door. The bag and marker remain on the door to this day.
Since the incident, the store has received over $4,400, in donations and purchases of the bag. They sold out within a week but are not available online again at pinkpeacock.gay/product/tote/.

On April 29, 1945 members of the 1st Company, 3rd Battalion, 157th Infantry, under the command of Lt. Col. Felix L. Sparks, entered Dachau. There they discovered a train of 36 boxcars bearing the corpses of prisoners who had been transferred to Dachau from other camps in the last weeks of the war. As the soldiers advanced, they found stacks of bodies in other parts of the camp and thousands of emaciated survivors. They rounded up the remaining camp guards as they found them. At some point, it was reported, one of the Gis blurted out, “No prisoners!” Approximately 60 guards were then lined up against a wall and gunned down by members of the 1st Company.

If you’re in this situation where you’re an enforcer armed to the teeth tasked with forcibly removing a grieving mother safeguarding the grave of her son to make way for a theme park and you think the correct thing to do is to follow those orders and make sure she’s removed you’re not at all good person you’re such a lost cause you should honestly just be shot.
